WhatsApp has been introducing new features time and again. The messaging company is working on several new features to increase productivity and security. Screen-sharing feature is still under development while usernames feature is spotted in the beta version for Android.
WhatsApp is currently working on introducing username and screen-sharing features. The username feature was seen in the beta version 2.23.11.15 for Android. This feature will allow users to select a unique name attached to their account instead of relying on phone numbers for conversation. This ability will provide an increased level of privacy as users can contact each other without knowing their phone numbers. Usernames are also expected to be secured by end-to-end encryption, ensuring all conversation and communication remains private and secure.
Screen-sharing is another update that is in the early stages of development and is still not available for beta testers. This feature is expected to function similarly to Zoom, Google Chat, etc. By using the screen-sharing button users can confirm and share their content on screen on a video call.
