Google announced that it will allow apps that have ads that promote gambling and involve real money in games, contests, and tournaments only if they meet the criteria set by the tech giant. The update will be effective from 1st March 2021 and apps will be available for download in 19 countries.
The company announced on Thursday that the developers will be required to fulfill all the requirements and must complete the application process to make the app available on Google Play for distribution. The developers must have a valid gambling license and should meet all the laws and industry standards for each country in which the app is distributed. It must keep a check on under-age users and prevent them from using the app. Online casino games, lotteries, sports betting, and daily fantasy sports are the four categories in which gambling apps are required to register.
