Review: Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1
Computers
and laptops have evolved a lot not only in terms of design and size but also in
performance and other metrics. If you are thinking of buying a laptop that
serves the same functionality as a tablet and vice versa, then don’t worry, we
have some good news for you. Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1 serves both ways.
Build and
Design
Dell Latitude 7390
2-in-1 is a 13 inch, versatile, and very light-weight laptop. It has a rubbery
matt touch finish that gives the impression of its capability of withstanding
wear and tear. The two rubber strips at the bottom hold the laptop firmly when
placed on the table on any flat surface. Dell has used some premium materials
in making of this product. It is available in stunning machined aluminum,
carbon fiber or magnesium alloy. The overall cover makes it easier to grip, but
it picks up oil, dust, and fingerprints.
The beautifully designed laptop can be converted into a tablet and vice versa with
the help of amazingly designed hinges, which allows you to flip the screen around.
The hinges are strong enough to hold the display in any position. Once the
screen is flipped or turned, it automatically prompts the permission of switching
to tablet mode giving options of both portrait and landscape modes of the
screen with touchscreen display. You can even place it on the table without any
support while using it as a tablet. Dell doesn’t offer a pen with this package
but you can buy it separately. This is surprising since it supports windows 10
ink, which means you can sketch and take notes. The function of keyboard keys
automatically turns off once the tablet mode is on. While using it as a laptop,
the touchscreen functionality remains on which is a cool feature on the one
hand but, accidental touches can even frustrate users.
Coming to
the keyboard; the keys are soft and backlit (which can be turned off if
desired) that makes its use easier even in the dark. The size of the keyboard is
smaller than usual that can be a minus point for users who demand standard size
or are used to the bigger sizes of the keyboard. The full HD touchscreen
display is wide and has an image aspect ratio of 16:9. The 33.8 cm diagonal
sized display runs at a resolution of 1920 x1080 pixels. It is made up of
Corning Gorilla Glass 4, making it scratch resistant. The smooth Microsoft
Precision touchpad makes gesture control and swiping easy and precise. Two
right and left buttons are also present below the touchpad for clicking.
Ports and
Slots
On one side
of Dell Latitude7390 2-in-1, there is a headphone jack, SD card slot, SIM card slot
(optional) (WWAN only), USB 3.1 Gen 1 with power share, noble wedge lock slot,
volume keys and, power button…. Yes, you read it right, the power button is on
its side, which may add to its versatility but it can be pressed while holding
the laptop that can be annoying for some users. On the other side, it has two
USB Type-C connectors, HDMI, USB 3.1 Gen 1.
Features
and Performance
Dell 7390
2-in-1 is designed for the business that means the specifications and features
are better, efficient, and more robust than the previous models. This model is
equipped with intel CORE i7 (8th Gen) Quad-core processor, with max
Turbo speed of 4.2 GHz. It is available in Windows 10 Pro 64-bit computing
system with integrated UHD Graphics 620 GPU. It has 8 MB of Cache and 16GB of LPDDR3 SDRAM. In
layman terms, all this means it boots up fast and has great multitasking ability.
If we talk about storage, Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1 has 512 GB SSD, Class 40, NVM
Express (NVMe) Hard Drive. Now you don’t have to worry about space as with this
much memory and, storage you can have all your projects saved and running up to
high speed. This laptop was designed keeping in mind the requirements of the business, therefore Dell made sure to integrate the mobile broadband feature with
this device. With great performance comes great heat but you don’t have to
worry about it as the fan profile is set in such a way that the laptop cools
itself immediately. The air vents which are located at the back allow smooth
flow of air preventing overheating of the device. However, as compared to other
Dell laptops the internal temperature of Latitude 7390 2-in-1 rises during extreme load.
There is
no graphics card which is a piece of bad news for gamers, speakers’ output is high and it
features widescreen HD 720p webcam with quad array microphone.
Battery life
The
Battery life is 19 hours which is outstanding and can be recharged using
65-Watt AC adapter, and a 4-cell / 60Wh lithium-polymer battery.
